1. Tires
The condition of your vehicle tires is a serious safety concern. We are traveling at ever increasing speeds these days, what with so many things to do and so little time. If you happen to have a tire blow out, it could be an awful experience.

Here are a few things to know about tires:

1. Most vehicles lose an average of 1 PSI (pound per square inch) per month. It doesn't sound like much but even 4 PSI lower than required causes uneven tire wear. It also decreases your fuel economy. When more rubber meets the road than necessary it means that more surface area is touching the ground, which creates drag, which then causes us to spend more fuel for the same distance.

2. You may ask: "How do we lose that air?" Well, air molecules are very tiny, and they gradually work their way through the sidewall of your tires and escape. Or as Dory in Finding Nemo would say:  they "ES-CAH-PE"!

3. If your tires are under-inflated, it will create uneven tire wear. You might be asking, "And how does that happen, Bekah?" Keep in mind that tires rotate about 500 times every mile. So, in 50,000 miles that poor tire has been smashed against the pavement 25 million times. The definition of abrasion is: "The process of wearing down or rubbing away by means of friction". That is exactly what happens to the tire. If the tire pressure is right, the tire is round, and that makes for an even hit every time. If it is under-inflated, it will not be round, and the tire will wear unevenly because it is hitting the road like the shape of an egg. It didn't work for Humpty Dumpty!

4. Have someone who knows how to check the tires for wearing and cracks at least once a year. We feel that good, properly inflated tires are one of the most important things you can have on your car.

Please feel free to stop by, and we would be more than happy to check your tires for you. It will only take a minute, and it doesn't cost anything. But it might save your life.
